STEAM Outdoor Adventures - TIS Spring-Break Camp
During our spring break, TIS collaborated with local education centre Birdie STEM Lab to host the first ever TIS Spring-Break Camp, a two-day immersive STEAM adventure that exceeded all expectations.
The camp provided an immersive experience for our students, igniting the students’ imagination and enthusiasm as they embarked on a journey of exploration and learning. Aligning with the school’s educational objectives, the innovative program focused on the development of essential skills, while delving into a diverse array of disciplines, including science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
Throughout the camp, students engaged in a variety of captivating sessions and outdoor activities that fostered their creativity and problem-solving abilities. They built shelters and delved into the fascinating realm of renewable energy and sustainable living, where they were introduced to solar ovens, and even had the opportunity to experience hands-on involvement in the design and construct their own. Witnessing the power of the sun sparked profound curiosity and inspired students to explore innovative and environmentally friendly alternatives.
Water, a fundamental resource, was another area of focus during the Spring Camp. Participants learned about water filtration techniques and practical applications, gaining insights into ensuring access to clean water in various scenarios. Creating their own water analysis kits further deepened their understanding of water quality assessment, highlighting the importance of responsible resource management.
TIS Spring-Break Camp not only provided transformative experiences for the students, but also equipped them with crucial skills and STEAM knowledge, while reinforcing the importance of environmental consciousness and multidisciplinary learning. By creating opportunities for students to grow and develop as socially responsible individuals and lifelong learners with strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, the camp perfectly aligned with TIS's holistic approach to learning.
