2024 TIS IB Art Show - Opening Night
With great excitement, TIS opened its doors on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, for the Opening Night the highly anticipated annual IB Art Exhibition. This exhibition featured a curated collection of thought-provoking artworks, crafted by a cohort of 16 IB Art students.
The IB Art Exhibition represents a significant milestone for our students, as it symbolizes the culmination of their rigorous two-year course of study in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Art program. Throughout this journey, students have pushed the boundaries of their creativity, dedicating themselves to creating a unique and engaging body of work.
Highlights of the TIS IB Art Exhibition include the curated work of each artist, showcasing their aptitude in selecting a collection of work that explore diverse themes and are skilfully arranged. They have deeply reflected on how their art communicates meaning and purpose, considering the potential impact it may have on various aspects of society. The resulting portfolios not only exemplify their artistic growth and development but also serve as a testament to their profound artistic expression.
2024 IB Art Exhibition
From thought-provoking installations to captivating paintings, this exhibition is an essential component of the IB Visual Arts course for both Standard and High Levels. Curated by the students, the show explores their imagination, skill, and the power of artistic vision.
Mr. Mark Jalland, TIS's Secondary IB Art Teacher, expressed his admiration for the students' achievements, stating, "We can challenge and extend the boundaries of what art can be and how it can exist within the school." He further added, "They [TIS IB Art Students] have the scope to be able to go beyond the normal framing and plinth of an artwork. This is the top end we would expect of art."
The IB Art Exhibition will be at the Secondary Library from Tuesday, March 26 until Friday, March 29. This four-day exhibition provides an exclusive opportunity for visitors to appreciate the artworks created by our talented IB Art students.
As TIS continues to lead the way in educational excellence, we remain committed to our mission of equipping students with the tools, experiences, and knowledge to thrive in an ever-changing world. By unlocking the potential within each student, we aim to shape future innovators who will make positive changes through their knowledge, skills, and creativity.
TIS takes great pride in being the only school in Macao that offers both the Alberta Curriculum and the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), providing students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 with a comprehensive and holistic education. These educational frameworks are highly regarded by prestigious universities worldwide, ensuring that TIS students are well-prepared to excel in their chosen future endeavours.
Congratulations to our students-artists and their art teacher, Mr. Mark Jalland, for a successful IB Art Show!
