Beyond The Lab
Beyond building robots, the Robotics Lab at TIS focuses on developing essential life skills such as critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving and teamwork.
Robotics challenges students to identify problems, devise solutions, and troubleshoot when things go wrong. This critical thinking and problem-solving skill is applicable in various aspects of life, from personal challenges to professional tasks.
The process of designing and constructing robots has a tremendous impact on fostering creativity. It compels students to think beyond conventional boundaries and devise groundbreaking solutions for various challenges. It builds confidence, team spirit, empathy, with students supporting other students while sharing ideas and knowledge. Robotics also serves as a gateway to a multitude of disciplines, igniting students’ understanding of physics, mathematics and computer science.
What TIS Students Are Building
Throughout the month of September, students from Grade 4 to Grade 12 participated in various activities within the lab as part of their tryouts for the robotics teams. Engaging in robotics introduces students to the dynamics of teamwork and collaboration. Through group projects, they are given the opportunity to communicate effectively, share responsibilities, and work harmoniously towards a shared objective. These valuable skills not only enhance their academic experience but also prepare them for success in future endeavours.
