I have to admit that it feels good to be back at TIS. I am honoured to be the interim Head of School for the 2020-21 school year.
When I first came to Macau in 2006, TIS was a young school with less than 300 students operating out of borrowed MUST classrooms. Twelve years later, TIS had become the highest achieving Accredited Alberta International School in the world. We grew together, built programs together, built buildings together, and even weathered too many typhoons together! Together, we saw our students grow, graduate and spread out into the world for university studies.
I believe so much in our program, that I have helped to build the same programs at the Canadian International School of Phnom Penh and Canadian International School of Guangzhou. Working together, the 3 schools form a friendly network for collaboration and enhanced opportunities for students and staff. Over the past two years, I have continued to be a part of TIS assisting the board and the Head as we navigated a very difficult and challenging 2 years.
As we emerge out of the pandemic, the future of 2020 is uncertain. But I am confident that we will get through it together; as a community and as the TIS family that I know we are. I look forward to saying hello to old friends as well as meeting the new families that have joined us.
