Volunteer Training Camp Prepares Students to Serve the Community
The TIS Volunteer team has grown year on year. The program is supported by DSEJ to enable students to enhance their skills and knowledge through various volunteering activities, training and experiences.
While the rest of the school community enjoyed an extra long weekend, 34 students from grades 8 to 12 participated in the annual Volunteer Training Camp. Through games and team-building exercises, they learnt the key elements of becoming a member of the volunteer team which include: teamwork and communication skills; code of conduct; rights and responsibilities of volunteering.
The games and activities were all student-led. Veteran volunteer members, Kellie, Jerry, Meagan, Norah, Nicole I, Nicole C, Ngolaam, Chole, Valeria and Melissa spent countless hours during their summer holidays planning and preparing for the training camp. They also volunteered as group leaders for the camp activities. "They have all brought important influences to the participants based on their experience. We highly appreciate their efforts." said Caritas Counsellor, Jeff Chan
