Leaders of Their Own Learning
Student Led Conferences are scheduled for next week at TIS and that means parents of students from Pre Kindergarten to Grade 6 will have the opportunity to find out what their children have been learning at school - from their own children!
Dates and Times:
Thursday, March 25 from 3:30-6:30 pm
Friday, March 26 from 8:30 am to 12 noon
What is a Student-led Conference?
At a student-led conference, students are in charge of leading the discussion and presenting a portfolio of their work. This develops a sense of ownership and responsibility for their learning. The teacher acts as a facilitator, while parents listen and speak with their child about their academic and social progress.
There are many benefits of a student led conference:
Students aren't just bystanders in discussions about their achievement and progress, but rather are active participants
Students get to play an active role in planning their own learning and goal-setting.
Parents learn how they can support their children’s learning at home.
We encourage parents to attend the student-led conference; it's a great way to see what is happening in the classroom through the eyes of your child!
