We extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Neil Johnston, a remarkable individual who dedicated nearly five decades to the field of education across Canada, Europe, Hong Kong, and Macau. A pioneer in starting schools, Mr. Johnston started the Ontario School of the Arts and was one of the earliest principals for the Canadian International School in Hong Kong before being inspired to co-found The International School of Macao (TIS). Mr. Johnston's passion for teaching and his unwavering commitment to education are truly inspiring. Throughout his career, Mr. Johnston served in various capacities such as a teacher, university lecturer, principal, and school superintendent. He was especially passionate about the arts and the school’s annual award bears his name. His invaluable contributions to The International School of Macao exemplified his dedication to nurturing young minds and creating an enriching learning environment.
As a cherished co-founder of our School, Mr. Johnston's legacy will undoubtedly live on through the countless lives he touched with his expertise. In this time of grief, we stand together in mourning the loss of such an exceptional educator. Our thoughts are with Mr. Johnston's family, friends, colleagues and all those whose lives he touched so profoundly during his extensive career in education. May his memory be a source of inspiration for future generations as they strive to make their mark in the world of education.
